Shanghai Zhongqiao Vocational and Technical College(also Shanghai Zhongqiao College) was founded in 1993 and was admitted to the national unified enrollment plan by the Ministry of Education in 2002. As a non-profit private undergraduate college, it is one of the few pilot colleges for vocational education at the national undergraduate level in Shanghai. The name of the college(Shanghai Zhongqiao Vocational and Technical College(also Shanghai Zhongqiao College) ) which was used from 1993 to May 2020 was changed to Shanghai Zhongqiao Vocational and Technical University (also Zhongqiao University) in June 2020 after it got the approval of the Ministry of Education and was upgraded to an institution that can grant a bachelor’s degree in December 2019. With a campus of 542.4 acres, the environment is pleasant for over 8,000 students currently studying here. The development goal of the university is to establish a top university for modern vocational education well-known both domestically and abroad with “distinct professional characteristics and modern style of operation.” With its motto of “using sciences and educations to prosper the enterprise, serving the country with the industry,” Zeta Group, one of the top 500 manufacturing enterprises in China, has provided solid support for the university's development. With the direction of socialism with Chinese characteristics, the university implements the fundamental task of cultivating talents with a high moral standard for the country and the Communist party. Therefore, it actively explores the comprehensive reform of education with three aspects and insists on serving the national and regional economy and society as the standard for improving the university's operation. The central task for the university is to cultivate qualified talents with comprehensive development of morality, intelligence, physical education, art and labor skills.
