The BA is a self-governing, federal corporation under public law that is subject to legal supervision by the Federal Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs. As special departments of the Federal Employment Agency, the so-called family benefits offices are responsible for the implementation of tax family benefit equalization (e.g. child benefit ) and for the calculation and payment of the child supplement according to § 6a of the BKGG .
