Front Office Management Trainee
As a Front Office Management Trainee at Shanghai Marriott Marquis City Centre, you will gain practical experience in one of the most important operational departments of a luxury hotel. The Front Office is the first and last point of contact for many guests, making it a key area for guest satisfaction, service quality and hotel reputation.
This traineeship is designed for future hospitality professionals who want to understand hotel operations from a management perspective. You will not only support daily Front Office tasks, but also learn how the department coordinates with Housekeeping, Reservations, Concierge, Guest Relations and other hotel teams to create a smooth and memorable guest experience.
Throughout the program, you will receive professional training, work closely with experienced Marriott team members and develop essential management-trainee skills such as communication, problem-solving, teamwork, guest handling, operational awareness and service leadership.
Key responsibilities
- Support daily Front Office operations, including guest arrivals, check-ins, check-outs, enquiries and service requests.
- Welcome guests in a warm, professional and confident manner in line with Marriott's service standards.
- Apply empathy and active listening to understand guest needs and provide thoughtful, personalised service.
- Assist with smooth check-in and check-out processes while maintaining accuracy, efficiency and attention to detail.
- Handle guest questions, requests and concerns with patience, positivity and clear communication.
- Work closely with Front Office team members, Concierge, Housekeeping, Reservations and other departments to keep operations smooth.
- Observe and learn how Front Office supervisors and managers organise daily operations, manage guest flow and solve service issues.
- Show problem-solving initiative when supporting guests with room arrangements, service requests or unexpected situations.
- Stay observant and anticipatory, identifying guest needs before they are directly expressed.
- Support peak-hour operations while maintaining professionalism and service quality.

This traineeship is designed to help you understand restaurant and service operations from both a practical and a management perspective. You will support daily dining service, communicate with guests, assist with service arrangements and learn how Food & Beverage teams coordinate during busy periods, events and daily operations.
