Front Office Management Trainee

As a Front Office Management Trainee at Mandarin Oriental Qianmen, Beijing, you will gain hands-on experience in one of the most guest-focused and service-sensitive departments of a luxury hotel. The Front Office and Butler Service teams play a central role in the guest journey, from pre-arrival preparation and VIP welcome to guest recognition, personalised service, problem-solving and departure.

This traineeship is designed for young hospitality professionals who want to understand luxury hotel operations from a management perspective. You will not only support daily Front Office duties, but also learn how Mandarin Oriental creates highly personalised experiences for VIP guests, returning guests, suite guests and Fans of M.O.

Throughout the program, you will develop practical skills such as guest communication, emotional intelligence, service recovery, attention to detail, cross-department coordination, guest-preference management and luxury service awareness, while observing how managers organise guest-arrival preparation, lobby presence, room inspections, VIP amenities and service consistency.

Key responsibilities

  • Support daily Front Office, Butler Service and Guest Relations operations in line with Mandarin Oriental service standards.
  • Welcome and assist guests in a warm, elegant and professional manner on arrival and departure.
  • Act as a liaison for guests with special needs, preferences or personalised service requirements.
  • Assist with VIP arrivals, suite guests, returning guests and Fans of M.O. experiences.
  • Support pre-arrival preparation, including guest-preference checks, room allocation and special-request follow-up.
  • Escort VIP guests to their rooms and help ensure a smooth, personalised arrival.
  • Help inspect VIP rooms before arrival so every detail meets luxury standards.
  • Coordinate with Housekeeping, Room Service, Concierge, Reservations, Sales and Front Office teams to prepare amenities and special arrangements.
  • Stay aware of daily operations, VIP arrivals, guest profiles and service priorities.
  • Provide lobby coverage, greeting guests, identifying VIPs and dignitaries and informing relevant departments when needed.
  • Help collect and update guest preferences to support Mandarin Oriental's guest-recognition program.
  • Support guest-feedback collection and help prepare information that improves guest satisfaction.
  • Assist with guest communication, messages and follow-up to keep service fast and accurate.
  • Promote hotel facilities such as the restaurants and spa when appropriate.
  • Observe and learn how managers handle guest retention, service quality, recognition and operational consistency.
  • Take part in Front Office and Butler Service training, including service standards, room presentation and guest-recognition procedures.
  • Carry out additional tasks assigned by the management team.

Food & Beverage Management Trainee

As a Food & Beverage Management Trainee at Mandarin Oriental Qianmen, Beijing, you will gain hands-on experience in one of the most important guest-facing areas of luxury hotel operations. Food & Beverage is not only about serving food and drinks; it is about creating atmosphere, understanding guest preferences, anticipating needs and delivering elegant, personalised experiences.

This traineeship is designed for young hospitality professionals who want to build a strong foundation in luxury restaurant and service operations. You will support daily Food & Beverage service, communicate with guests, assist with dining arrangements and learn how service teams coordinate to deliver consistent, refined and memorable experiences.

Throughout the program, you will develop practical skills such as guest communication, service awareness, attention to detail, teamwork, problem-solving, multitasking and operational coordination, and see how Mandarin Oriental's legendary service culture comes to life across dining, lounge, room service and special guest experiences.

Key responsibilities

  • Support daily Food & Beverage service operations in line with Mandarin Oriental luxury service standards.
  • Welcome and assist guests in a warm, refined and professional manner.
  • Help create personalised dining experiences by understanding guest preferences, special requests and service expectations.
  • Assist with restaurant, lounge, banquet or in-room dining service according to operational needs.
  • Communicate clearly with guests, supervisors, kitchen teams, service colleagues and other departments.
  • Support seating arrangements, service flow, food and beverage delivery, table maintenance and guest follow-up.
  • Keep attention to detail at every stage of the guest dining experience.
  • Handle guest questions, requests and basic concerns with patience, professionalism and a positive attitude.
  • Promote hotel dining venues, signature experiences and other facilities when appropriate.
  • Support VIP guests, returning guests and special arrangements by coordinating with Front Office, Butler Service, Concierge and other departments.
  • Observe and learn how supervisors and managers organise service flow, maintain quality and manage guest satisfaction.
  • Assist during busy service periods while staying calm, elegant, efficient and on-standard.
  • Help collect guest comments and feedback to support service improvement.
  • Take part in training on Mandarin Oriental service standards, communication, guest recognition and Food & Beverage operations.
  • Develop a management mindset around service quality, guest satisfaction, team coordination, cost awareness and operational consistency.
  • Carry out additional tasks assigned by the management team.

Requirements

  • Fluent English communication skills.
  • Chinese language ability is a strong advantage.
  • Good computer skills, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
