The Sino-German Faculty of Branding is established by Zhejiang Wanli University, which closely cooperates with the Brand University of Applied Sciences in Germany. The faculty consists of the Joint Institute of Zhejiang Wanli University and Brand University of Applied Sciences, the Sino-German Institute of Design and Communication, and the Research Institute of Brand Sciences.
The Sino-German Faculty of Branding is oriented towards serving the high-quality development of both economy and
society. It actively embraces knowledge innovation and technological progress, with a focus on “Brand Sciences”. It aims to establish emerging interdisciplinary disciplines, such as Brand Design, Brand Communication, and Brand Management, fostering their distinctive development. The faculty maintains close collaboration with enterprises and industries both home and abroad, predicting talent demands, synchronizing nurturing, and assessment, striving to achieve a mutual alignment and promotion between academic disciplines and industrial, innovation, and talent chains.

The Sino-German Faculty of Branding features three major advantages: the resource channel of international cooperation, the emerging discipline of Brand Sciences, and the organizational platform of academy-enterprise integration. It optimizes the curriculum system, faculty team, teaching conditions, and practice bases. Following the principle of “intercultural + interdisciplinary”. It designs professional development programs to cultivate professionals with practical experience and international vision.
Majors in Sino-German Faculty
of Branding (2+2 program)
For the first two years of the studies, students will be based at our beautiful ZWU campus in Zhejiang, China. During this period, you will immerse yourself in a comprehensive curriculum designed to build a strong foundation in your chosen major.
After successfully completing the first two years, students have two excellent options for the third and fourth years.
(1) Students either can choose to continue their studies at ZWU, where they will study tuition-free and graduate with a Bachelor's degree from our prestigious institution. This option allows students to further deepen their knowledge and skills in a familiar and supportive academic environment.
(2) Alternatively, students can opt to apply to study at Brand University of Applied Sciences (BU) in Germany for the final two years. At BU, students will experience a different educational culture and gain a unique international perspective. Of course, students will need to pay the tuition fees according to the regulations of BU and will be awarded a German Bachelor's degree upon graduation.

Brand University
of Applied Sciences, Germany
Brand University of Applied Sciences in Hamburg, Germany is a unique university in Europe with "brand" teaching and research as its core content. It was founded under the guidance of the German Brand Institute established in 1903. The university offers undergraduate and postgraduate courses in design, digital media, marketing communication, and brand management, aiming to cultivate international senior innovative talents in brand design, communication, and management. The campus was originally the site of the German Nautical Academy, and historical protected buildings such as the former residence of Heinrich Heine are located there.
Close cooperation with industries is the most prominent teaching feature of the university. It absorbs the latest concepts, methods, and achievements in the industries and closely cooperates with the city of Hamburg, the capital of media, which enables it to enjoy a high reputation in the fields of media, advertising, and design in Europe. The current chairman of the university's academic committee is Professor Christian Köhler, the president of the German Brand Institute. The core members of the committee include presidents of several industry associations. All professional teachers at the university have membership qualifications in one or more organizations such as the German Brand Institute, the German Marketing and Communication Association, the German Luxury Goods Association, the German Design Association, and the Art Directors Club of Europe. Teachers and students of the university have won numerous international awards at competitions such as the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity, the New York Festivals, the Red Dot Design Award, the iF Design Award, the German Design Award, and D&AD. In the past five years, teachers and students have won a total of 65 awards in important international design and creative competitions, ranking among the top among similar universities in Germany. The university's "Cooperative Brand Enterprise Committee" has the participation of more than 20 Fortune Global 500 companies, including Unilever, British American Tobacco, Siemens, Volkswagen, Allianz, and Lufthansa. These enterprises entrust the university to undertake corresponding design and scientific research projects and jointly set up the "Brand Talent Scholarship" to provide financial support and rewards for outstanding students. The university's courses cooperate with famous German enterprises and brands, and a large number of practical projects from enterprises are introduced into teaching. Since its establishment, the university has carried out nearly 200 university-enterprise cooperation projects with more than 110 enterprises, including globally renowned brands such as Adidas, BMW, Porsche, Volkswagen, Bosch, Bayer, Montblanc, and BOSS.
The university has established practical teaching relationships with more than 30 creative and media enterprises such as Landor, Ogilvy, Publicis, JWT, InterBrand, Jung von Matt, and Mutabor. It has jointly built 25 practical teaching bases in seven cities including Hamburg, Berlin, Munich, and Stuttgart. With the recommendation of school teachers and industry mentors, students can smoothly enter enterprises for internships. Before graduation, 100% of the students have obtained internship experience of more than six months. The university has attracted funds from cooperative enterprises and established a self-created brand incubation base called "Brand Factory" to help students create their own brands and provide various services such as company registration and intellectual property protection. The Development Resources Department of the university has set up a "Career Development and Entrepreneurship Center" to guide and assist students in further studies, employment, and entrepreneurship.
The Brand Strategy Research Centre (BSRC) affiliated with the university gathers expert professors in the fields of international brand design, brand communication, and brand management, and is committed to research in the latest fields such as digital media communication, interactive marketing planning, and brand communication management. The center has also undertaken national scientific research projects such as the "International Education Research on Brand Communication" of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research of Germany.
